This packet will outline exactly what a Dream Team member is committed to. After checking out the commitments, you’ll see that we’re expecting a lot from our Dream Team; however, there are benefits and you’ll find that these high requirements have high rewards. Once you take a look at what it means to be a part of the Dream Team, you might decide you want to begin the process.
Prayerfully consider your commitment to being a part of the Dream Team. Then, you will need to fill out the application at the end of this packet and make an appointment with me for your interview! Before you can officially hold this volunteer position at Nineteen Hundred, you must complete a background check and sign our safety policies and procedures packet. If you have any questions, please call or text me anytime at (904) 333-5790.
Let’s do this!
LEAD OVER / FOLLOW UNDER
We can’t be over the things that God has put under our authority, until we learn to be under the authority that God has put over us.
You cannot receive from that which you do not honor.
You can’t lead — if you can’t be led because every authority is authored by God.
REPLACE I CAN’T WITH I’LL FIND A WAY
We see obstacles as opportunities for innovation.
Because we have a cause — can’t isn’t an option.
We will find a way because Jesus has made a way.
BROUGHT PEOPLE BRING PEOPLE
We were brought near by the blood of Christ — to bring others near.
The saving is up to God — the inviting is up to us.
WE’VE GOT A REASON TO CELEBRATe
We are a church that loves to have fun and live in community.
We know how to throw a good party and for good reason… we possess the joy of God in our hearts.
We are finding our place in His purpose.
We are persistently working to reach the lost with the message of Jesus.
What better reason is there to celebrate together?
DO LESS — BETTER
We believe in focused excellence.
We can actually do more by doing less.
We will do a few things well instead of a bunch of things mediocre.
There is actually freedom in limitation.
We will not to make the gospel complicated.
EVERYTHING THAT WE DO — WE DO WITH PASSION
Church without passion is dead religion.
We don’t allow our emotion to dictate our devotion — but instead our devotion dictates our emotion.
Jesus was passionate for us — we are passionate for Him in return.
FAITH IS OUR FIRST RESPONSE — NOT OUR LAST RESORT
We default to faith first.
We’re about proactive Faith not just reactive faith
KNOW JESUS & GROW
It is important to know a specific time when you surrendered your life to Jesus. In order to lead students to Christ, we need to personally know Him ourselves first. Commit to grow in your relationship with Christ through spiritual habits such as prayer, worship, devotion, etc. A Dream Team member that is responsible for mentoring students must constantly be seeking the Holy Spirit.
A LIFESTYLE ABOVE REPROACH
Part of being an Adult Leader is committing to choices, lifestyle, and attitudes that are Godly. Your lifestyle is a model for our students. Because of this, everything you project should be above reproach - including social media.
EMBODY THE CULTURE
We believe culture is built by design not by default. Thats why its important our Dream Team embodies the culture of Nineteen Hundred, especially in Youth.
KNOW THE GOSPEL
The Gospel will be at the center of everything we do. The Gospel in Five Words is an easy way to remember, understand and share the Gospel with students.
Consistency is key! If you are not able to make it, you must send a text or call Pastor Joel 24 hours in advance. You are that important to this ministry! If you are not able to be consistent in your attendance to both your committed program and weekly meetings, serving in this ministry is not a good idea. When you commit, your commitment is for the length of one full school year. Be reliable!
WEEKLY DREAM TEAM MEETINGS
Community is crucial to our team moving forward. We will have meetings every week to discuss the plan for service and how we can better pour into our students as mentors.
DON’T BE LAME
Model a Spirit-filled life. We are alive in Christ! Participate in worship; do not just stand there like an ant on a log. It’s okay to dance during pre-service! We are going to do some things that you may not have done growing up in church in order to reach this generation. We will do what others don’t, to reach those that others aren’t reaching.
We’re asking a lot! Because of this, we realize being a part of Dream Team at YTH isn’t for everyone. Many people won’t want to rise to the high level of commitment we are expecting. Others might not have enough time to commit to weekly services, mentoring youth outside of YTH, or you cannot attend weekly Dream Team meetings.
We are especially concerned about the family life of our Dream Team. We do not want to create a ton of things that keep you out every night of the week. As far as a time commitment, we’re asking our Dream Team to be at one Nineteen Hundred service weekly, Weekly YTH service and Dream Team meetings, and to mentor youth outside the walls of YTH.
We are asking our Adult leaders to give 1.7% of their time monthly (13 hrs / 728 hrs), some months more, some months less.
We are asking for 1.7% of your time in which you can help shape the lives of teenagers, creating lasting relationships with other Dream Team members, have a ton of fun and serve God for His glory.
EVERYONE HAS THE SAME 24 HOURS IN A DAY.
HOW YOU SPEND YOUR TIME REVEALS YOUR PRIORITIES.
We firmly believe that God’s mission for us and His specific calling for our lives deserve to be at the top of our priority list. There are a ton of things we can commit our time to in life, but we believe nothing can be greater than working together, to lead our community and world, to know Jesus in a personal way.
God created us for a relationship with Him long before the world ever existed. This is why humans exist - because He wanted to be with us.
But here’s the problem. When sin came into the world, it created a wall of separation between us and God. All of the sudden, what we were created for had become lost. No one is unaffected by sin and the only way to pay for the problem of sin is death.
But God wasn't okay with this outcome of sin. So he sent a rescue plan. That rescue plan's name was Jesus. Even though He didn't have to, God made the greatest sacrifice in history by giving His son Jesus to pay for sin. The cost of sin is death, so Jesus died -- for us. But he didn't stay dead. After three days, Jesus beat death and came back to life.
Even though God sent His Son Jesus to rescue us from sin - it’s not going to help us unless we make the choice to follow Him. If we choose Jesus publicly and give our entire heart to Him, then we become...
Redemption means being what we were meant to be all along. Not only will we live forever in Heaven with Him, but we are now realigned with the purpose that God had for us all along - to have a relationship with Him.
